Now OPEN! The new ‘reimagined’ Museum of Modern Art (MoMa) in New York

The Museum of Modern Art (MoMa) re-opened its doors on 21 October 2019 after an extensive expansion re-modelling ‘with a reimagined presentation of modern and contemporary art’.

MoMA have added more than 40,000 square feet of gallery spaces which is good news for modern art lovers and for all of our Art & Design students.

“The Studio in the heart of the Museum will feature live programming and performances that react to, question, and challenge histories of modern art and the current cultural moment. An innovative second-floor Creativity Lab for education will invite visitors to connect with art that explores new ideas about the present, past, and future. Street-level galleries, free and open to all on the expanded ground floor, will better connect the Museum to New York City and bring art closer to people on the streets of midtown Manhattan.”

MoMa now has galleries dedicated to architecture and design across all floors of the Museum and “reflects the curatorial vision of a “both–and” approach, acknowledging architecture and design both as integral to the interdisciplinary conversation with the visual arts and as autonomous disciplines with specific histories and methodologies.”

MoMa is a destination visit not to be missed on a school trip to New York, it is a fantastic cultural experience for all, not only Art & Design students.
