Psychology LIVE! Student Conference Event for KS4 and 5 at Disneyland® Paris

Event Dates:

Monday 2nd March 2026

Monday 1st March 2027

Psychology LIVE! is the best possible way to spend time outside the classroom whilst bringing Psychology studies to life. This immersive event gives students the opportunity to meet experts face to face and provide them with all the inspiration they need for their exams including memorable examples and case studies.

Speakers will present the most current issues with presentations linked to key topics covered in the AQA, OCR and Edexcel A Level curriculum. Through their real-life experiences our speakers will help the students understand how psychology is applied in the real world such as the contribution of psychology to individual, social and cultural diversity, and ultimately to a successful society. There will be the opportunity to ask questions of the industry practitioners and learn about careers associated with the subject during the interactive question and answer sessions.

While enjoying and being immersed in the Disneyland® Parks, the Park Challenges encourage students to take a step back and look at the resort from a scientific perspective. Students are given simple experiments to complete which allow them to develop arguments and draw conclusions about how psychological principles/theories are applied across the resort in order to stimulate specific behaviours and responses.

Event details and 2026 speakers at LIVE! events

Cara Flanagan

Cara Flanagan is one of the best-known authors of Psychology textbooks, having written more than 30 psychology textbooks (A level, GCSE, BTEC and EPQ). She taught for many years and was a senior examiner for AQA A level psychology, closely involved with setting exam papers as well as supervising examiners. She speaks at teacher workshops and revision conferences, and for many years she ran her own conference company with speakers such as Professor Philip Zimbardo and Professor Elizabeth Loftus. Beyond writing she spends time with her now adult children (who still love Disneyland Paris) and long-distance walking (having just completed the walk from John of Groats to Land’s End).

Cara will present to your students - the psychology of success.

What makes people successful? A positive mindset, strong work ethic, resilience? It’s all very well listing the qualities of success but how can we achieve them? Psychological research has produced some concrete ideas and also provided suggestions about how you can reframe your thinking.

Professor Craig Jackson

Professor Jackson is an Occupational Health Psychologist who has been researching the relationship between the work people do and their health and wellbeing, since the late 1990s. He also studies the relationship between occupations and crimes, and studies extreme gun violence, stalking behaviour, and violence prevention. He has been at Birmingham City University since 2002 and in that time has been both the Head of Psychology and the acting Head of the School of Social Sciences.

As an occupational psychologist with a wide range of interests in the field, Craig has worked with many organisations including Diabetes UK, Rolls Royce Engineering and Shell International, among many others. He has even consulted for the Royal Shakespeare Company about how violence can be portrayed accurately on stage.

Psychopathy & the Movies: Fact or Fiction?
Craig will examine some research (Leistedt & Linkowski, 2013) looking at how psychopathy is portrayed in cinema. Real Psychopaths do not have superpowers, or gadgets, but they think and move through the world differently to most of us, and in some cases, they become very successful at what they do. This talk will map onto the curriculum looking at psychopathologies, and will be useful for students thinking of careers in psychology (either clinical, forensic, health or criminal) as well as other careers such as policing, healthcare, or law.

Dr. Manpreet Dhuffar-Pottiwal

A Chartered Psychologist with a rich background in clinical and academic settings, Dr Manpreet is nearing completion of her second doctoral journey; specialising in behavioural addictions and intergenerational trauma. On a mission to decolonise therapy, Dr Manpreet challenges traditional norms and advocates for public engagement with psychological interventions.

Q&A Session

Our lively and interactive question and answer session gives the students control to ask the questions they want answers to.  All the speakers take to the stage to answer questions to provide different perspectives and to offer invaluable career advice from their own experience.

Workbook and Park Challenges

Our complementary workbooks are designed to be used as your group enjoy the Disney® Parks.  The workbooks contain park challenges which encourage students to take a step back and critically appraise the resort from their subject perspective. These park challenges provide opportunity for problem solving, decision making as well as working together so that your students get the maximum from the their time at Disneyland® Paris.

LIVE! Events Team

Our LIVE! Events Team provide expert on-site support throughout your stay to make your trip as easy and memorable as possible:

  • Be on-hand & provide assistance throughout the event
  • Register your students at the conference & take questions

Matt Pritchard - 2026 Facilitator

Dr Matt Pritchard is a Curator of Wonder. His amazing performances both inspire and inform, and his enthusiasm for dynamic learning will captivate your students, leaving them excited for our Psychology LIVE! speakers.

Previously Matt conducted research at Durham University before working at Thinktank Science Museum. In addition to this experience, he has 25 years working as a professional magician and is an Associate of the Inner Magic Circle - one of only 300 people in the world to hold this distinction.

Expert's comment

"I'm glad that the presentation was well received, and that students managed to learn something as well as gain a sense of what it's like working as a forensic psychologist.!

Michelle Fletcher, Clinical Psychologist

What You Say

Brilliant Psychology conference!  Walbottle Campus

Michelle Fletcher was the best, the students loved her. They felt they had a clear insight into her role and her field. Her presentation was engaging with real life examples, she clearly broke down how she carries out clinical assessments and linked this back to relevant examples.   Bacons College

Another excellent trip thanks to EST. This is the third year that we have done the trip and every time EST deliver in terms of making it easy to organise the trip and particularly when in the resort, where they are always available to assist when needed. Staff are enthusiastic and really welcoming. We will be returning again next year!   Garforth Academy

We definitely want to come back next year. Your trip represented better value for money than the rival company as the pupils had one more day in the park.  Churchdown School Academy
