Science LIVE! Student Conference Event for KS4 at Disneyland® Paris

Show your students science in action at our Science LIVE! conference. A half-day conference where students will hear from a variety of passionate scientists, combined with practical student activities all within the magic of Disneyland® Paris.
Fun and learning in one!
Our speakers are science communicators passionate about showing learners how science works. By applying the principles they learn in the classroom to the real world, learners gain an appreciation of its relevance to their everyday lives. They will have the opportunity to ask questions and get more insight into working in science during the interactive Q&A sessions.
As part of the immersive event, each student will receive their own workbook in advance of the event for pre-trip preparation as well as science park challenges to complete whilst enjoying the Disney® Parks. These challenges cover the fundamentals of Science at KS 4 and encourage students to apply their knowledge in a new and unique learning environment.

Who Is This For?
The event is aimed at Key Stage 4 (GCSE) students of Science and is designed to complement studies within the AQA, OCR, Edexcel syllabus as well as complementing WJEC and SQA qualifications.

Dave Chawner - Facilitator
"Dave is a number 1 best-selling author, award-winning stand-up comic and presenter.
Dave has appeared BBC, ITV & Channel 4 and last year presented a series of documentaries for BBC’s Tomorrow’s World on Body Dysmorphic Disorder. His recent book Weight Expectations became a best-seller just 3 days after being released and looks at his anorexic past and sensitively uses humour to tackle the very serious issues of Eating Disorders. He has also written for The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Metro & Cosmopolitan on topics such as masculinity, sexuality and mental health.
Dave is an Ambassador for Mind, Rethink Mental Illness, The Mental Health Foundation and BEAT (UK’s Eating Disorder Charity)."
Brendan Walker
Brendan Walker is the world’s first thrill engineer. He originally trained as an aeronautical engineer and industrial designer, and now runs Thrill Laboratory specialising in the creation and study of thrilling experience. Brendan has worked with clients from Alton Towers to Nissan, and is currently touring his own unlikely thrill ride – VR Playground – which is a mash up of two technologies: the millennia-old playground swing and 21st century virtual reality.
Brendan is Professor of Creative Industries at Middlesex University. He is a regular broadcaster, and most recently appeared on BBC’s The Apprentice You’re Fired during 'coaster week’.
Fran Scott
Fran Scott is an accomplished Engineering presenter, maker and pyrotechnician. She has been listed in The Progress 1000 London’s most influential people and is the only person to have presented on three different BAFTA-nominated Engineering television programmes. A scientist by training (MSci Neuroscience) and an engineer at heart. Fran is an expert prop builder and Science Content Producer.
Fran is a proud Trustee of the Brunel Museum, a member of the Engineering and Technology Innovation Awards Advisory Board and for many years served on the Institute of Physics’ Girls in Physics Advisory Group.
Flow Adepoju
Florence Adepoju is an entrepreneur, trailblazer and founder of MDMflow, a lipstick brand inspired by the glamour infused within hip-hop music and street culture. With a passion for STEM subjects, Flow is dedicated to driving female participation within STEM and promoting diversity within the beauty industry.

Our lively and interactive question and answer session gives the students control to ask the questions they want answers to. All the speakers take to the stage to answer questions to provide different perspectives and to offer invaluable career advice from their own experience.

The workbooks contain park challenges which encourage students to take a step back and critically appraise the resort from their subject perspective.
