Disney's Mary Poppins, the "Practically Perfect" addition to a London Tour

A big part of the thrill of going on a school trip to London is experiencing the bright lights of the West End.  Seeing a hit show is without doubt the most popular visit for our groups, and quite often the highlight.

The latest addition to the West End stage is Disney’s Mary Poppins.  The  magical story of the world's favourite Nanny is triumphantly and spectacularly brought to the stage with dazzling choreography, incredible effects and unforgettable songs. Mary Poppins is brilliantly adapted from the wonderful stories by PL Travers and the original film.

Being local to London two members of our team (Lynsey and Clare) were lucky enough to be invited to attend a preview screening of the show this week (6th November 2019). Here is their review:

“We thought the show was absolutely fantastic- it has been slightly modernised for 2019 but all the old favourites were still there. Our highlight was the extremely rousing rendition of ‘Let’s Go Fly a Kite’ (up to the highest heights!) and the sets were incredible!  Our favourite character was Petula Clarke playing the Bird Woman (ask your mums!).

Mary Poppins is a fantastic option for our groups. It’s a typical toe tapping Disney production and is a must-see for all musical lovers. The show is on at the Prince Edward Theatre in Soho which is the perfect location being only a short walk from many of our favourite group restaurants (Bubba Gump, Byron Burger or Planet Hollywood) which ensures the perfect dining/theatre experience and a seamless itinerary.”

Why not take the experience one stage further by taking part in a Disney West End Theatre Workshop.  These workshops are not only designed for performing arts students but are open to all experience levels.  As well as building the excitement for the show itself, these workshops are a fabulous team and confidence building activity perfect for pupils/students of any age from 7 years old!   The content is very upbeat, celebratory and focuses on rhythm and movement which will appeal to all.

Theatre day trips to London start from as little as £49 per person and can be extended to any duration.
