9/11 Memorial and Museum

The 9/11 Memorial and Museum is the principal institution dedicated to telling the story of 9/11, the people who lost their lives and the psychological scars that remain. Multimedia displays, archives, narratives and artefacts tell intimate stories of loss, compassion, reckoning, and recovery. Two hour workshops are available based on the themes of memorialization, remembrance and repercussions.

Tenement Museum

The Tenement Museum reshapes the museum experience with tours that immerse visitors in the tenement hallways, kitchens, and parlors where families carved out new lives. More than just text on a wall, the Museum works with objects and primary sources, and educators share them with visitors during an interactive tour.

Museum of Jewish Heritage

This museum explores Jewish life before, during and after the Nazi genocide. Documentary films, thousands of photos and artifacts, many donated by survivors families form a living memorial to the Holocaust. Special exhibitions tackle historical events or themes, while the core collection is brought to life with interactive displays, including “Voices of Liberty,” a soundscape of immigrant and refugees reactions to their arrival in the U.S.

Lower East Side Immigration Experience

Take an in-depth look at the daily lives of New Yorks first immigrants and the grueling conditions and persecution many faced. Examine different immigrant groups’ motivations for coming to New York, and their process of acculturation or integration. Tour stops include: Castle Clinton National Monument, Irish Hunger Memorial, Chinatown and Little Italy

Ellis Island Immigration Museum

Quite literally the gateway for more than 12 million immigrants to the United States as the nation’s busiest immigrant inspection station. Now it stands as a museum dedicated to immigration where the Ellis Island Medal of Honor is awarded annually to pay homage to the immigrant experience.

Museum of Modern Art

The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) contains the finest and most comprehensive collection of 20th Century Art in the world. The contemporary design is a masterpiece of glass spaces and high ceilings creating the perfect setting for its collections of modern art. The MoMA also has revolving series of retrospectives of past masters and shows from leading artists today.

The museum’s collection offers an overview of modern and contemporary art, including works of architecture and design, drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, prints, illustrated and artists books, film and electronic media. At the heart of the Museum is the four story Marron Atrium. The permanent collections feature some of the famous works of Jasper John’s Flag, Van Gogh’s The Starry Night and Picasso’s Les Demoiselles dAvignon as well as Jackson Pollock’s drip paintings. The museum offers a great experience for those wishing to submerge into modern art.

The Freedom Tower is a 104 storey building that stands on the World Trade Center site in Manhattan – giving amazing views of the city.
