Meet Jess

Hi, I’m Jess, and I’ve been part of the Esto family for over 2 years. Travel has always been a huge part of my life, and I love how no two experiences ever feel the same – whether that’s completely switching off or finding yourself in a moment you never expected.

Since becoming a Tour Designer, I’ve helped pull trips together and make sure everything runs the way it should, but the best part for me is always the people. Getting to know schools, building relationships, and having a few laughs along the way is what really makes the job enjoyable. Esto has such a strong team feel – a good balance of getting things done properly while still having fun – and everyone’s there for each other when it matters.

I’ll be honest: flying isn’t my favourite thing (despite having lived in Australia for two years), so planes are anxiety inducing! I usually distract myself by binge‑watching box sets, watching films, reading and chatting – or rotating through all of those while slightly panicking. Whatever gets me through the flight!

I also have a slightly strange habit of travelling everywhere with a collection of shells I’ve picked up over the years. I don’t really know why – it’s just become a thing – but it feels a bit like collecting memories you can actually hold onto.

Outside of work, I’m usually spending time with family and friends, popping into the Halfway House pub, heading off on holidays (I always need one booked to keep me motivated), going for walks, or making it to the gym… when I feel like it. My top trip‑planning tip? Just pick up the phone. Talking things through properly makes everything easier, gets everyone on the same page, and saves so much time.

For me, travel is really about the memories and the people you share them with — and that’s exactly what I love helping create.”

Ask for help

Don’t hesitate to use your support network. Whether it’s your guide, driver, hotel staff, or us back in the office, there’s always someone there to help if you need anything at all. You’re not on your own, so it’s always worth asking.

Keep an eye on your energy levels

It’s easy to focus on ticking everything off, but factoring in short breaks, snack stops, or even just a bit of downtime can make a huge difference to how the group feels overall.

Leave space for unexpected highlights

Some of the best moments on a school trip aren’t actually in the itinerary – it’s the street performer you stumble across, the bakery everyone insists on stopping at, or a quick photo stop that turns into a core memory. If you keep a little flexibility in the day, those moments have room to happen.
