These masterful Venetian artists not only shaped the history of Venice art, but European art.
Guided Tour of Venice
A guided tour of Venice on foot will offer the opportunity to see the main attractions around the area of St Mark’s Square. This will include St Mark’s Basilica and the Doge’s Palace. An experienced guide will give information on the history of the city and will be able to answer any questions.
Island Cruise including Murano & Burano
By private boat, this guided tour features two major islands: Burano, renowned for its lacemaking school and Murano, world capital of the glassblowing industry where guests have a chance to watch the artists at work. These islands are famous for their beautiful and colourful canal side houses.
Murano Glass Museum
Visit this magnificent glass museum. The museum is within Palazzo Giustiniani and houses various collections of glass works describing the history of glass making in Venice. There is an archaeological collection and a modern glass section.
Carnival Mask-Making Workshop
Enjoy a 2.5 hour hands-on workshop during which students will be shown a selection of masks before turning their hand to their own papier-mâché creation.
Peggy Guggenheim Collection
The Peggy Guggenheim Collection is the most important museum in Italy for European and American art of the first half of the 20th century. It contains works from the most famous European and American modern artists including Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Jackson Pollock, and Alexander Calder, and her husband’s artwork, Max Ernst. It is located in Peggy Guggenheim’s former home, Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, on the Grand Canal in Venice.
Ca d’Oro (Franchetti Gallery)
The Ca’ d’Oro (“House of Gold”) is one of Venice’s most beautiful Gothic palaces on the Grand Canal, now home to the Galleria Giorgio Franchetti, where visitors can admire a rich collection of art including Renaissance paintings, Venetian sculptures, frescoes, tapestries and decorative arts, with works by artists such as Titian, Mantegna and Van Dyck.
Ca’ Pesaro – International Gallery of Modern Art
The core of the collection is made up of award-winning works exhibited or purchased at the Venice Biennale in the early decades of 20th century. Along the itinerary are displayed important 19th and 20th century paintings and sculptures, including masterpieces by Klimt, Chagall, Kandinsky, as well as a rich selection of works by Italian artists and an important section of graphic art.
