Rembrandt House Museum
About 250 of Rembrandt’s etchings are on display in this 3-storey 17th century house, where he lived for almost 20 years. The only paintings here are by Rembrandt’s teacher, Pieter Lastman and those painters who worked under Rembrandt in his studio.
Rijksmuseum
This is the largest museum in the Netherlands. There is a large selection of paintings from the 15th century, until around 1850, as well as decorative and oriental arts. If you only have limited time, head for the Dutch Masters on the 2nd floor, including Rembrandt’s ‘Night Watch’.
Stedelijk Museum of Modern Art
Discover and experience modern and contemporary visual art and design with a visit to the best collection of modern art in Amsterdam. Alongside the permanent displays, the regularly changing temporary exhibitions tend to focus on particular trends or specific artists and works. Highlights include paintings by Monet, Cezanne, Picasso, Matisse, Kirchner, Chagall and the Dutch De Stijl group.
Van Gogh Museum
