Brandenburg Gate

Perhaps the most iconic landmark in Berlin, the Brandenburg Gate is a symbol of its tumultuous past and a must-see for all History students.

The towering columns of this mighty architectural sight are certainly something to behold, and the history it represents makes it a fascinating location to visit in Berlin.

A trip to the Brandenburg Gate will create some real food for thought and your students will also have the chance to reflect upon what they have learnt about this monument and the part it plays in the city’s rich history.

 

Reichstag

The home of the German Parliament. Your students will walk through the Reichstag and climb to the top for a great view of the city. Throughout their tour, students will learn about its turbulent history and how it was destroyed and rebuilt over the years.

 

Hamburger Bahnhof (Museum of Contemporary Art)

This location is sure to delight and inspire your Art & Design students, who can take a trip to the Hamburger Bahnhof.

The Holocaust Memorial

A 4.7-acre site is covered with 2711 concrete slabs all paying tribute to the Jewish people who were tragically lost during the Holocaust. After your students have studied WW11 and the atrocities that occurred, this emotional memorial is a key landmark that must be visited by anybody travelling to Berlin.

 

The Alte National Gallery

If you want to experience one of the largest collections of 19th-century sculptures and paintings, then this is the place to be. This gallery will blow away any Art & Design students with the original Two Princesses statue depicting Princesses Luise and Friederike.

 

Babelsberg Film Studios

A great opportunity for your Film & Media students to witness live recordings of current soap operas or TV films.

The Babelsberg Film Studios predate Hollywood, and on a school trip to Berlin with us, your students gain an insight into filmmaking and special effects while on a guided tour. However, you will find remains of the wall around the city, and this Memorial and Documentation Centre contains the last piece of the Berlin Wall preserved within its original grounds at Bernauer Strasse.

These infamous walls played a significant role during the Cold War, now representing the unification of a nation in post-war Berlin history.
