Risk assessment and inspection visits
Risk assessments
School tours are statistically one of the safest environments your students can be in – and good risk assessments play a big part in that. Lots of Group Leaders ask us for help when completing theirs, so we’ve put together some simple guidance to make the process feel a lot less daunting.
Our Risk Assessment Guidance sits alongside your school or employer’s policies and breaks the basics down in plain, everyday language. Think of it as a friendly companion to your Group Management Plan.
Inside the guide, you’ll find:
- What Esto does for you
- How the risk‑assessment process works
- An example Code of Conduct
- Sample risk assessments you can adapt
And remember: there’s no single “right” way to complete a risk assessment. What matters most is that you’ve taken time to think through what could go wrong, put sensible measures in place to control the risk, and record significant findings clearly. It doesn’t need to be complicated – just practical, realistic and focused on keeping everyone safe.
