Universcience - Science in Paris

The Cité des Sciences and the Palais de la Découverte in Paris have joined together to form Universcience. This two site public institution is on a mission to make science and technology accessible to all.


Explora, an exhibition area, is situated on two floors of the Cité and hosts both permanent and temporary exhibitions covering topical subjects.


Permanent exhibitions include the following energy, the story of the universe, Earthwatch: the satellite revolution, Innovations Gallery, Techno-gallery, mathematics, sound, images, lightgames and man and his genes and The Argonaute. Scientific experts are there to guide visitors and answer any questions. These permanent exhibitions showcase major scientific advances and are also a great insight in to the key role science plays in our daily lives.


Temporary exhibitions running include:
Science and Fiction, Imagination meets reality – runs until 3 July 2011
Oceans and Climate Change – runs April 2011 – June 2012
Design Observer – 9 November 2010 – 13 March 2011
FAKE! Spotlight on counterfeit goods – runs until 13 February 2011


In addition to the exhibitions there is also shows shown at Géode (giant-screen cinema). Students have the opportunity to watch Imax® or 3D film on a 1,000 square metre screen. Once seated comfortably students can swim with dolphins, discover the Orient with one of the greatest explorers of all times or even get up close with dinosaurs in prehistoric Patagonia.
