Farnborough's Back from Prague

They barely unpacked their bags before Farnborough College of Technology got in contact with us about their Media themed trip to Prague

The students got to visit Czech Television Studios based in the Kavcí Mountains. The Studios themselves are home to the production and sets of some of the most famous Czech TV programmes and an important producer of films like Želary, nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 76th Academy Awards in 2003.

The group also visited the Radio Free Europe station, one of the oldest radio stations in Europe, broadcasting to 21 countries in 28 languages, including Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Russia.

Probably the most exciting was the trip to Barrandov Film Studios. Known to some as "Hollywood of the East", Barrandov is Czech Republic’s largest studio and is one of the largest production studios in Europe with some of the biggest recent productions being partly filmed there like Mission Impossible, The Bourne Identity, Casino Royale, Prince Caspian, and many others.

Anna Johnson, trip organiser and Head of Media and Film Studies at Farnborough said “the trip was a success thanks to great trips and organisation”. If you don’t believe us, see it for yourselves! One student managed to film an entire documentary for your viewing pleasure! Be prepared - it's nearly 20 minutes long - but it's worth it!
