Anis del Mono Distillery

The Anis del Mono Distillery is a very famous Spanish brand which is 130 years old. The distillery is in the same location as the San Miguel Glassworks visit so it’s an ideal combination. Visits can take place in English. The focus of the visit is on the history of company and the production related local history. It also looks at the comparison of production methods used 100 years ago and currently.

Bodegas Torres (winery)

The winery tour starts with a twenty-minute film presentation about the company and its products, followed by a tour of the vineyard by coach to see the fermentation vats, cellars and bottling plant. The visit ends with a wine tasting. There will also be time to discuss what the students have seen and develop some of the topics with the guide.

Cava Sparkling Wine Producers

The Penedes Valley, just west of Barcelona, is famous for its Cava, or sparkling wine, produced using the Methode Champenoise. Several producers offer free guided tours for the general public. Two of the best known are Freixenet & Castellblanc. Both companies offer an audio-visual show, visit to the caves and observation of the production process. Visitors are offered a complimentary glass of Cava at the end of the tour.



Comercial Gallo

Gallo, established in 1946, was originally a flour factory in Barcelona started by Señor Jose Espona. The company also owned the wheat field and were therefore involved in the whole production of pasta, allowing them to bring not only high-quality but also affordable pasta dishes to tables all over the world. Gallo is now the leading pasta company in Spain and among the five biggest producers of pasta in Europe. Pasta Gallo is still a family owned company up to this day. The visit includes a guided tour followed by a question and answer session.

Estrella Damm Factory

This beer is the jewel in the crown of Damm’s century-long beer-brewing experience. Since 1876, when Alsatian August Kuentzmann Damm founded the company bearing his name, numerous generations of master brewers have perfected this lager until it has become a landmark in the world of beers. During this visit you will see the brewing process, packaging and loading followed by an optional tasting.

FC Barcelona Museum

Trophies, documents, photographs and audiovisual shows trace the history of one of the greatest clubs in the world. You can view the stadium from the grandstand. The visit takes 1.5-2 hours. Guided tours in English are also available.

Font d'Or Mineral Water

The visit begins with an explanation and a history of Font d'Or mineral water followed by a visit to the factory to see the processes of bottling and recycling. Finally you can see the labelling process and where the bottles are stored as well as the water source and the entrance of the Arbucies Balnearium.

Helados Dino (Ice Cream Factory)

In Empuriabrava we have a guided visit through the production area of an ice cream factory. Helados Dinos will provide all necessary health and safety clothing for hygiene purposes and a Q&A session is available after the tour.

La Borsa (Stock Exchange)

This one hour tour of the Electronic Trading Centre of the Barcelona Stock Exchange includes an introductory film and a tour of the “ring” or trading floor which houses 35 TV screens showing the daily movements of the IBEX35, the official index. A large video wall charts the movement of the index and provides up-to-the-minute economic explanation from around the world. The guide will give a detailed explanation on how the Stock Exchange works and will be available to answer any questions. Please note that students must not wear shorts or sports clothes (including trainers) to this visit.

Port of Barcelona

Guided tour of Spain’s leading port. The port covers an area of 527 hectares and has 20 kilometres of wharves and moorings specialising in steel products, chemicals, petrols, gas products and fruit. Two types of visit are possible: a tour of the port facilities, terminals and anti pollution boats or a visit to the important daily fish market where the day's catch is auctioned to wholesale buyers.

A guided tour of the enormous SEAT factory which employs over 10,000 staff will enable the students to gain an insight into the production of the cars and how different departments liase with each other. The guide will be available to answer any questions.

The Port of Roses

The Port of Roses is home to approximately 65 boats and around 400 people working in the port every day. On this visit, we see the boats come in, the fish cleaned and prepared ready for sale and it is also possible to view the auction where the fish are sold.

General Guided Sightseeing Tour of Barcelona

We use experienced and English speaking guides of the Barcelona Guide Bureau. The city tour is an excellent introduction to the city, and will typically visit places such as the Sagrada Familia and other Gaudi landmarks, the Olympic Port, Montjuic and the Olympic Ring, the Old City. We recommend a half-day tour, lasting 2.5-3 hours. Please note we may well be able to tailor make your tour to your requirements e.g. to focus it on the Leisure and Tourism industry. Pick up and drop off times are always flexible.



Genius of Gaudi guided tour

This tour takes you into the world of this exceptional architect, visiting his most representative works: Passeig de Gracia, Casa Mila, Parc Guell, and the Sagrada Familia Cathedral.



Gerona (Girona)

Approx 1 hour from Barcelona, Gerona makes a great excursion. Located on a hilltop at the branching of two rivers, Gerona is a town that combines local traditions with a modern feel and thriving arts scene. Gerona offers treasures such as a vast Gothic and Romanesque Cathedral, a labyrinthine Jewish Quarter and Arab baths.



Gothic Route Guided Tour

This tour allows the students to discover the gothic architecture in Barcelona. The tour begins by the beautiful monastery of Pedrables located in the north of the town, then continues to the old city, where the group will be taken on a walking tour of the medieval city, including the impressive Cathedral and Cloister. The "Ribera" quarter is next, this became the city centre in the 13th and 14th centuries when the Catalan were expanding their trade and sea links through the Mediterranean. Historic City Tour

This half-day tour is a journey through the different ages of the city, starting in the Gothic Quarter, of which the highlight is the Cathedral and its cloister. The tour continues to the Old Harbour, crowned by the Christopher Columbus column, then continues up Las Ramblas, the most famous boulevard in Barcelona. Next the coach will head in the direction of the Montjuic Mountain to see the ruins of the old castle and the impressive panorama of the city. Prices are available upon request.



Maritime Front Tour

Today Barcelona has the third most important commercial harbour in the Mediterranean. The tour begins with a panoramic view of the harbour from the top of the Montjuic Mountain over the Mediterranean Sea. The coach will then drive down to the port and stop at the entrance to Barceloneta for a small walking tour around the little streets of this former fisher village. The students will then go on a 35-minute boat tour at the harbour coast. The final stage of the tour is the twin towers of the "Vila Olimpica", the entrance to the Olympic Harbour built for the Olympic Games of 1992; a complex of bars, restaurants and luxurious boats. Modernist Route Guided Tour

Barcelona is known as the city of Modernism and its most famous artist, Gaudi. The "Quadrat d'Or", the golden square divided in its middle by the most beautiful boulevard of Barcelona; Passeig de Gracia, the square was initiated in 1860 and represents one of the most unusual urban spaces in a European and world context. Montserrat

At the top of the “Sacred Mountain” is a 9th Century Benedictine Monastery with a shrine to the “Black Virgin”. The dramatic location adds to the effect of the spiritual heart of Catalonia. Take the cable car to the top for spectacular views.



Olympic Games Stadium

You and your students may wish to visit the stadium on top of the Montjuic Mountain. The stadium is located extremely close to the Fundacio Joan Miro and the area has excellent views of the city. Travelling up the mountain via funicular, walking to the foundation then to the stadium, before descending by foot below the Palau Nacional back to Espana, is a very pleasant afternoon’s walk. Another pleasant walk is to the Olympic Village at Barceloneta. This area was extensively redeveloped for the 1992 games, and athletes were accommodated here. There is a pleasant marina, many seafront shops and restaurants, and the best beach in the city.
