Media Live! 2010 in its first year at Disneyland Paris was a great success. Held at the IMAX Cinema in the Disney Village, this event bought students into contact with experts from key areas of the media industry including Peter Richardson from Matte Black Films, Mark Piper from the British Board of Film Classification and Steven Cole from Aljazeera.

Through examples of their work each speaker highlighted various career routes that students may wish to consider within the media industry including Film and TV, Broadcasting and Film Classification. Our speaker question time panel at the end of the conference was extremely interactive with students quizzing the speakers on their careers, work and inspiration.

For the budding film students amongst the groups, the highlight of the conference was undoubtedly the film competition where students were asked to a submit a short film to be shown on the ‘big screen’! Each film was judged by Peter Richardson, who looked at how closely students had followed the brief and were then individually classified by Mark Piper.
