The Graphic Design Experience Educational Art & Design Conference

As one of the Art & Design capitals of the world, New York is the ideal destination for your students. In addition to the conference, we offer everything you need for the perfect trip to New York. Throughout this full day conference, students from across the UK will hear speakers introduce their work, their influences and their vision. Each session will conclude with question and answer time. This event is the perfect way to inspire the future generation of the design industry.

    James Scully

    James Scully

    A graduate of Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY with a B.F.A. in Communications Design and a focus in Graphic Design, James Scully currently works as designer and Copy Writer at Esquire. With over six years’ experience working in both the USA and UK James’s has produced works of graphic, visual and interactive design as content directing, blogging and editing for companies such as Vice, Foundry9 Questus, DailyCandy amongst others.

    In February 2012, Scully co-founded and launched an online creative community called The WallBreakers (www.TheWallBreakers.com) as an outlet for creativity, a way to connect people with each other and a tool to gain and use new skills. The Wall Breakers is a source for daily-curated art and inspiration and James Scully has successfully designed, maintained and produced all creative content on the website.

    Rich Terdoslavich

    Rich Terdoslavich

    Rich is a comic book artist completing visual projects, interior sequential art and illustrations for clients in the film, advertising, publishing, education and music industries.Getting involved in all stages of comic book production from pencils, inking and Photoshop, Rich is also a Storyboard artist for advertising agencies and private clients such as Guild Art and has even delivered Comic Book Workshops in association with Harlem Children’s Zone.Rich has worked closely with directors and clients around New York to assist, design, advertise, market and execute presentations for various future projects. On top of this, since 2008 he has created illustrations and Storyboards for various film projects at Madoff Productions and worked on a series of layouts for a graphic novel.He is currently an illustrator at MTV Productions.

    Noël Claro

    Noël Claro

    A spirited designer, manager and teacher adept at shepherding high-profile projects from inception to execution, Noël Claro uses her extensive and inspiring experience in editorial design, advertising, promotion and creative branding to mentor small and large teams. Claro is currently the Creative Director at Nickelodeon and the MTV Network. She is also a part-time professor of Illustration, Art, Media and Technology at New York’s Parsons School of Design. Hailing from an editorial design background, some of her past works include designing for Vogue Magazine, Comedy Central, Chronicle Books, Martha Stewart and many more.

    Melinda Beck

    Melinda Beck

    Melinda Beck is an Emmy nominated illustrator, animator and graphic designer based in Brooklyn, New York, and is currently the Vice President of ICON, the Illustration Conference. Her impressive client list include GQ, Nickelodeon, Martha Stewart Living, MTV, Nike, Neiman Marcus, The New York Times, Random House, Simon & Schuster, Target, and Time Magazine. As well as previously receiving a Gold Medal from the Society of Illustrators, she has also won awards and had her worked publicised by The Art Directors Club, Society of Publication Designers, Communication Arts, Print Magazine, The Society of Illustrators, The Broadcast Design Awards and The AIGA. In addition her work has been exhibited in various shows. Recently a series of her prints was acquired by the Library of Congress for their permanent collection.

      These purpose built Youth Centres offer secure budget accommodation ideally located in Central Manhattan. Students will be accommodated in twin rooms (bunk beds) with shared facilities.
