    3. Temple of Literature

      This is a quiet oasis right in the heart of busy and often hectic Hanoi. It is also one of the few remaining examples of ancient Vietnamese architecture and is considered perhaps the city’s greatest cultural sight. Founded in 1070, it became the country’s first university in 1076 to educate the sons of mandarins. A stelae naming the birth places and achievements of those receiving their doctorate here is one of the temple’s highlights. There are five separate courtyards and the complex is quite large so allow ample time to enjoy its contemplative grounds.

    Day 1 Depart London Heathrow for Vietnam.

    Day 2 Arrive in Hanoi, meet your English-speaking guide and coach transfer to your hotel and check-in.

    Day 3 Full day city tour of Hanoi including Ba Dinh square, One Pillar Pagoda and the Temple of Literature.
    In the afternoon visit the Army Museum, and the Old Quarter.

    Day 4 Depart for Halong Bay and board your boat. Your cruise includes Thien Cung Cave and Dau Go Grotto. After lunch onboard continue to Cat Ba Island.

    Day 5 Spend the morning in the National Park, climbing to Ngu Lam peak then catch a speedboat back to Hai Phong mainland and transfer to Hanoi for a short break and shopping.

    Day 6 Fly to Ho Chi Minh City. Spend the afternoon visiting Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral and Ben Thanh Market.

    Day 7 Visit the Cu Chi Tunnels followed by Giac Lam Pagoda and Thien Hau Temple.

    Day 8 Depart for Phan Thiet and your accommodation in Mui Ne resort. Day 9 Your day is free to explore
    at your leisure.

    Day 10 Spend the morning trekking around Ta Cu Mountain.

    Day 11 Depart for your return flight back to the UK.
