    Sicily once formed a significant part of the Greek empire, was later strategically vital to Rome, and has been invaded by Byzantines, the Arabs, Normans, French, Spanish and Bourbons; each of which have left their mark. It has a rich archaeological heritage as well as breathtaking scenery and wonderful sandy beaches, making it an interesting and inspirational destination for a school trip.

      Noted for its rich history, culture, architecture and gastronomy, playing an important role throughout much of its 2,700 year existence.

      Founded in 733BC, and became one of the first Greek colonies on the island.

    3. Agrigento

      Can be found in the south west of Sicily. It is a medieval town which is home to ruined Greek temples that stand, or partially stand, against a backdrop of the sea.
