What A Day at 4Entrepreneurs 2014!

European Study Tours were delighted to welcome over 400 students to the Odeon West End Cinema in London for 4Entrepreneurs 2014, kickstarting Global Entrepreneurship Week on Monday 17th November.

Richard Strudwick was up for the task of chairing the day which began with an impromptu text messaging exercise, students being asked to send someone else their own business idea!

The morning session featured Stéphanie Bouchet from marketing boutique RougeFrog, where she chronicled her own journey to entrepreneurship while lending her expertise in helping start-ups and the need to understand the behaviour of organisations in their market environment.

James Eder was next: he explained how with persistence and the use of business plans, he was able to raise enough capital to finance his Student Beans venture, which now helps over 3,000,000 students a month to find the best deals, provide discounts and sage advice about life as a student in university. We're hoping some of the students in attendance took notes!

The Pitch Your Own Idea session saw South Gloucester & Stroud College and International School Basel come to the stage with their own proposals for a business idea - pitched to the panel of entrepreneurs Dragon Den style. Both pitches were very well delivered, with James & Stéphanie initially found it difficult to award a winner.

However it was decided that South Gloucester & Stroud College had created an idea that had real scope in terms of profitability and the target market, making them the winners! Congratulations!

"It was really scary doing the pitch presentation but I am glad I have done it." said Alima Abdul, "I am very proud of myself. I also really enjoyed all the sightseeing we did around London - it was good fun." - Read more from SGS College's experience.

After lunch, pastry chef and and owner of Miss Macaroon Rosie Ginday spoke about why she chose to set up a social enterprise and how business and financial planning has helped her to build a successful business.

Finally, Claire Harper from baby/toddler clothing label IndiaCoco shared her vast experiences working at the heart of many influential and progressive brands, and how she has used this knowledge to set up and shape her own business activities.

A big thank you to our amazing speakers and all that attended this year's event, we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
