Steel? It's not another medal category but what the 114metre tower will be made of that work has now begun on. This amazing sculpture will be situated between the Olympic Stadium and the Aquatics Centre in East London. This will be Britain's largest sculpture and is a collaboration between Amish Kapoor, Turner Prize-winning artist, and world's leading structural designer, Cecil Balmond.
This amazing structure will house a viewing platform, a spiral staircase, a lift and a restaurant. After completion it will stand at 22m taller than the Statue of Liberty in New York and will be a major tourist attraction before and after the Olympics in 2012.
