What is the dream event for any film, animation or media student? The answer is European Student Tours’ student conference, Pencil to Pixel. This two day student event on 8th and 9th February 2011 in Paris covers cutting edge topics by leading players in the industry.
Animation, Special Effects, Short Films, Pop Promos and Post Production are all areas covered by Richard Morrison, Andy Powell, Andy Brown and Emma Gaffney. These high profile speakers, introduced by Dominic Buttimore, will show and discuss their work as well as answer the students’ questions. Sweeney Todd, Alice in Wonderland, Constant Gardener, Batman are Felix are just some of the editorial and animation work these industry leading lights have been involved in.
Emma Gaffney said: “I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences working in the features world with the students, and meeting the next generation of editors. I would also like to show that women can be technical too!”
Further to the student conference we invite students to take part in a competition. This year’s competition is to create a short film, no longer than one minute, entitled “A strange meeting.” The three winning entries will be shown on screen at the end of the conference.
Paris, the home of “new wave” cinema, is the perfect city to host this student conference and ensures that students have numerous options for educational visits outside the conference programme.
