European Study Tours' conference season 2011/12 was a complete hit, as our final six were enjoyed this month, by students and teachers in some of the best venues!
On March 5th, European Study Tours ran a day of Live! conferences at Disneyland® Paris. Held in the heart of the Disney Village, students studying Business, ICT and Media all had the opportunity to hear from, and quiz inspirational speakers of the industries in three sperate, subject specific sessions.
The day, chaired by Sian Jones, kick started with Business Live! In this half day event, speakers covered key aspects before a lively Q & A session. Pupils heard from Joe McEwan, Communities Manager at Innocent Drinks; Nina Dar, founder of Cheeky Monkey Business Solutions, a boutique change management consultancy; and Giles Andrews, entrepreneur and co-founder of the social lending online business Zopa, which connects people who want to borrow money with people who want to lend it.
ICT Live!, the second session of the day heard from Giles Andrews of Zopa, this time with an ICT focus; Mark Brill, CEO of Formation, a media and mobile marketing agency and Jane Young, a technology entrepreneur and founder of Scramblr, a platform that enables creative teams to set up their own online studios.
The jam-packed day ended with Media Live! Our chair for the day, Sian Jones shared her wealth of TV and Radio experiences. Students also heard from Jo Elvin, award-winning editor of GLAMOUR, Britain's number-1 women's magazine and Jane Young again, of Sramblr for social media. The day wrapped up with a competition with the best three entries being showcased on the big screen! We asked each group to submit an advertisement on a theme of their choice, as either a TV advertisement, a Newspaper / Magazine advert or an advert suitable for a web page. We received such fantastic entrees and our competition winner was from King Edward VI College, who received a £100 Amazon voucher.
