Guest student writer for Psychology Live! 2016

Over 220 students and teachers attended European Study Tour’s first Psychology Live! conference on the 7th March 2016, hosted in Disneyland Paris! We have had some fantastic feedback from our groups who attended our first Psychology Live event earlier this month. One student attendee recalls her experience and has written a reflective summary of the event and what she learnt. Here is our guest writer, Elspeth McClymont from Simon Balle School.

“Psychology Live! took place in Disneyland Paris in the beginning of March, three fascinating speakers gave talks on their remarkable and yet very different areas of psychology, ranging from cognitive thinking to criminological to sport. Each of the talks given gave a unique and compelling take on the field while still giving me so many key points that I can take back to my studies and information that can be used in my essays. For example, a talk was given on the use of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) to help aggressive prisoners. CBT is a key part of my course and was also an area that I was particularly struggling with until I was able to talk to a professional in the field.  Not only did the talks help in my studies, but as someone who wants to take a psychology degree, hearing talks from other areas of the subject really helped to give me an idea of what I will come across in the future as well as broadening my knowledge, all of which I believe is an exceptionally invaluable experience.  Having the opportunity to talk to these professionals about their topics was undoubtedly useful and rewarding as well as very interesting, in the same way that being surrounded by people on the same course as me, was interesting as it allowed me to discuss the things that we were learning.” - Elspeth McClymont, Simon Balle School Student

Thank you so much Elspeth for writing into us and for your reflection on the Psychology Live! Conference. We are so happy you were able to learn so much from the event and we wish you every success in your studies!

We would also like to thank all our groups, students and teachers for joining us on such a fantastic event. European Study Tours looks forward to welcoming you all to next year’s Psychology Live!
